Helping young people with disabilities prepare for the market with Front Winners

Teachers who work with IDD students have a need for specific tools to help their classes thrive in the labour market. Front Winners is a platform designed to help them with this challenge.

In the first term of 2021, we had the honour of partnering with Instituto Politécnico de Santarém, Meath Partnership and the Center for Social Innovation in the creation of Front Winners, an Erasmus+ funded project that includes a digital education platform for teachers who work with students with IDD (intellectual or developmental disabilities).

The project comes as a response to a need identified in the "Digital Literacy for Labour Market" course, based on Erasmus+ KA2 Project: to empower teachers so that they can help students with IDD to be prepared to enter the labour market.

Teachers, coaches and trainers who work with students with IDD have a very specific set of needs in terms of competences and also tools - methodological, social, communicative, entrepreneurial, digital etc. - they need to master, in order to help their students procure a functional professional life for themselves.

By using the main principles of Design Thinking, Viatecla and our high-skilled partners developed a platform that will help in the empowerment of these mentors. In the digital environment customised to the programme, teachers can learn how to teach their students about soft and hard skills such as how to fill a resume, how to behave in a job interview, how to communicate more effectively in the work environment and much more.

To enable the accomplishment of this project, we used the native Extranet features of our low-code solution Scriptor Server that allows the rapid development of customized digital secure spaces for different kinds of projects.
